A timeless practice on the open water. Just bring yourself. The elements will do the rest.
In Finland, a sauna isn’t just a room you sit in; it’s an action you take. The word Saunoa is a verb. It means to engage in the ancient ritual of heat, steam, and recovery. It is the art of bathing in the löyly (the spirit of the steam) and finding a moment of absolute stillness.
We created Saunoa to bring that movement to the water.
By taking the traditional Nordic sauna and setting it adrift, we’ve disconnected it from the noise of the shore and the distractions of the city. When you step onto our decks, you aren't just visiting a destination—you are practicing an intentional rhythm. Between the crackle of the wood-fired heat and the gentle sway of the current, the boundary between you and nature begins to blur.
We invite you to do more than just "go to a sauna." We invite you to saunoa—to breathe, to drift, and to find your center in the mist.
How to Saunoa
A Three-Act Ritual for the Modern Soul
Welcome to the flow. To saunoa is to move between the elements. Follow this rhythm to find your center.
01. THE HEAT (Löyly)
Step inside. Leave the noise on the shore. Sit high on the benches where the air is warmest. When you’re ready, toss a small ladle of water onto the stones. This releases the löyly—the spirit of the steam. Close your eyes, breathe the cedar-scented air, and let the heat soften your thoughts.
Duration: 10–15 minutes, or until your body tells you it’s time.
02. THE PLUNGE (Vilvoittelu)
The water is your mirror. Step out onto the deck and embrace the contrast. Move toward the water’s edge and take the plunge. Whether it’s a quick dip or a steady soak, let the cold sharpen your senses and reset your heart rate. The shock isn't just physical—it's a mental clearing of the slate.
Duration: A quick dip or 1–2 minutes of immersion.
03. THE REST (Palautuminen)
The magic is in the stillness. Wrap yourself in a towel and find a seat on the deck. This is the "afterglow." Listen to the water lapping against the hull and watch the horizon. Your body is recalibrating, and your mind is at its most peaceful. Stay here until your skin feels cool and your breath is steady.
Duration: At least 10 minutes. Hydrate deeply.
Repeat the cycle 2–3 times. There is no rush.
